Why do we hate the word “fat” so much? Why can’t I describe my own body accurately without someone jumping in to tell me I’m “not fat?” This is the cognitive dissonance: fat, despite what we are trained to believe, isn’t bad. It isn’t an insult. It’s a feature. That’s it.
